Work Orders on the Flourish Mobile App

Purpose: This guide is for manufacturing teams using the Flourish Android app to run scheduled, recipe-driven production — create a work order from a Bill of Materials, pick components against the plan by scanning, and complete it with plan-vs-actual visibility.

Before you start:

• Your mobile user role needs the Manufacturing module. To author a Bill of Materials from the device, it also needs the Create BOM action.
• The output item should have an active Bill of Materials — or create one on the spot (below).
• Work orders share the Manufacturing module with runs — for lifecycle basics (start/pause/cancel), waste, and post-completion leftover adjustments, see Manufacturing Runs on the Flourish Mobile App.

Find Your Work Orders

From the app home screen, tap Manufacturing and open the Work Orders tab. It's ordered as a schedule — soonest (and overdue) first. Each card shows the work order's name, status, its planned Output (item and quantity), and its Scheduled date. The Open / Completed / All chips filter it like the Runs tab.

Create a Work Order

1. On the Work Orders tab, tap New Work Order.
2. Select the output Item. The Bill of Materials fills in automatically when the item has a default or only one — otherwise pick one (each option shows what it makes, e.g. "Standard Recipe · makes 100").
3. Check the Expected Qty to Create — it pre-fills from the BOM and scales the entire pick list.
4. Optionally set the Run Type, a Scheduled For date and time, and a Work Order Name.
5. Tap Create Work Order. It's created with an empty pick list — picking happens on the floor.

Create a BOM on the Device

If the item has no Bill of Materials (or none that fits), tap Create BOM:

1. Enter a Nickname (unique per item) and the Qty to Create — the output quantity your component quantities describe. Add Work Instructions if the crew should see them during picking.
2. Tap Add Component for each line: choose an Item (or an Item Category to allow any item in it — category lines need a UOM), the Component Type, and the Qty per Batch.
3. Tap Create BOM. It's saved and auto-selected back on the work-order screen.

The Work Order Screen

Open a work order to see its status, Expected quantity and BOM, collapsible Work Instructions, and the BOM Pick List — one row per component showing picked vs. required (e.g. "250 / 500 g") and what's Available. The badge on each line tracks progress: blank (nothing picked), a dot (partial), a green check (satisfied), or an amber warning (over-picked — allowed, just flagged). An availability figure in red means there isn't enough stock to finish that line.

Pick Components

By scanning (fastest): just scan — the screen's scanner is always live while the work order is open.

• Scan a package tag or lot number (or a non-cannabis lot/UPC/SKU). The app matches it to the right pick-list line and applies the quantity automatically — you'll see a confirmation like "Bulk Distillate · 250 g applied." No typing.
• Scanning a package that's already picked reopens its quantity for editing.
• Scanning something that isn't on the recipe asks: "Not on This BOM — This package doesn't match any pick list line. Add it as an unplanned input?" Tap Add Anyway to record it as an unplanned input.

By browsing: tap a pick-list line to see only the available packages that match it, then pick and confirm the Quantity to Consume.

Picked components appear under Inputs — tap any row to Edit Quantity or Remove Input.

Record Outputs

Tap Add Output. It works like outputs on a run, with two differences: the Item is fixed to the BOM's output item, and on tag-less facilities a Number of Packages field lets one save stage several identical packages at once. Metrc facilities scan a Metrc Tag per output as usual, and the Finished Good flag appears only where the state allows it on each-based items. If the item tracks strain per package, select the Strain.

Complete the Work Order

Tap Complete. The checklist adds two work-order rows to the standard gates:

• Expected Quantity — must be set (blocks completion if not)
• Plan vs Actual — a warning, not a blocker: "Staged X of expected Y — review before completing" appears whenever your staged output total differs from the expected quantity, so variances are a deliberate choice rather than a surprise.

Metrc processing-job reporting works as it does for runs — and if this work order inherited no run type, you can set it right here. On success you'll see Work Order Completed with the new package IDs, and Adjust Leftovers if you have inventory-adjustment permissions.

Troubleshooting

• "No active bill of materials for this item" — the item needs a BOM; create one on the web app, or tap Create BOM if your role allows it.
• "No available packages for [line]" — nothing in stock matches that component line right now.
• "A bill of materials with that nickname already exists for this item" — pick a different BOM nickname.
• A pick line shows Available: 0 but you have stock — the inventory may be a different strain than the output calls for (non-Metrc facilities), or allocated elsewhere.
• The Complete button is dimmed — a red checklist item is blocking; the row's text says exactly what to fix.
