Set Up Item Pricing

Learn how item pricing works in Flourish: default prices, Extended Item Pricing (EIP), price sets, and the three ways to enter or update item prices.

Use this article to decide how to set up pricing for your items and where to enter prices. It explains how the pricing options in Flourish work together and links to detailed steps for each one.

How pricing works in Flourish

Flourish prices items in three layers:

Layer

What it is

Use it when

Default Price

Used everywhere unless something more specific applies.

You sell each item at one price across all channels.

Extended Item Pricing (EIP)

Four optional item-level fields: Retail Price, Retail Discount Price, Wholesale Price, and Wholesale Discount Price.

You sell the same item at different prices to consumers and to wholesale customers, or you want to set a sale price on an item.

Price Sets

Named, reusable prices applied to many items (and, for wholesale, to specific customers).

You want consistent category pricing, wholesale tiers, customer-specific pricing, promotions, or clearance pricing without editing each item.

You can combine these. Many operators set Default and EIP prices on every item, then layer price sets on top for tiers and promotions.

1. Turn on Extended Item Pricing (optional)

Skip this step if you only need one price per item.

  1. Click Settings.
  2. On the Company Profile page, click Edit.
  3. In Configs, toggle Opt in to Extended Item Price (EIP) to ON.
  4. Click Update Company.
  5. Log out and log back in to see the change.

You can enter EIP prices without opting in, but Flourish only uses the Default Price until EIP is turned on. For full details, see Set Up Separate Retail and Wholesale Pricing.

2. Choose how to enter item prices

All three methods update the same item-level prices (Default Price and, if you use them, the EIP fields). Pick the one that fits the size of the change.

Update prices with a CSV

  1. Click Settings and select Inventory.
  2. Click Bulk Update Items.
  3. Download the CSV. Check Include external items to include Metrc-synced items.
  4. Update the Price, RetailPrice, RetailDiscountPrice, WholesalePrice, and WholesaleDiscountPrice columns.
  5. Upload the file.

Do not delete or rename columns, and do not edit the ID column. Always start from a freshly downloaded CSV. You need the Bulk update items (update company item master) permission. See Update Items in bulk.

The CSV updates item-level prices only. It does not create, edit, or assign price sets.

3. Use price sets for shared pricing (optional)

Price sets let you manage one price and apply it to many items at once. They do not require EIP opt-in. Find them under Settings → Inventory → Items dropdown → Price Sets.

  • Each price set is either Retail or Wholesale, never both.
  • Retail: one active price set per item.
  • Wholesale: multiple price sets per item, assignable to customers. Priority decides which wins (lower number wins).
  • The price set's UOM must match the item's UOM to apply.
  • Updating a price set updates every item and customer it's assigned to.

To set them up, see Create and Manage Item Price Sets for Retail and Wholesale and Set Up Deli-Style Retail Pricing with Price Sets.

How Flourish picks the price

When Flourish sets a price on a retail sale or wholesale order line, it checks in this order:

  1. An active price set assigned to the item (and, for wholesale, the customer). An active price set always wins over the item's own prices.
  2. The item's discount price for that channel (Retail Discount Price or Wholesale Discount Price), if EIP is on.
  3. The item's standard price for that channel (Retail Price or Wholesale Price), if EIP is on.
  4. The Default Price.
  5. Zero, if no price is set.

On wholesale orders you can still change the price on any line before you finalize. Orders created through the API always use the price sent in the API call.

After you change prices

If you sell through LeafLink, sync the item after a price change so LeafLink shows the new price. See My Item Synced to LeafLink Incorrectly.
