Destroy Mature Plants in Metrc: Waste Method, Reason, and Weight

METRC now requires waste method, reason, and weight when destroying mature plants. Updated interface allows submitting details on final confirmation screen.

In many Metrc states, you must report a waste method, a reason, and a waste weight when you destroy mature plants (Vegetation, Mother, or Flowering). Flourish shows these fields on the destroy screen and sends them to Metrc when the destroy syncs.

Waste Method

How the plant material was made unusable, for example, grinding and mixing with other waste. The list comes from Metrc for your state.

Reason

Explain why the plants were destroyed, for example, disease or male plants. The list comes from Metrc for your state.

Weight and UOM

The weight of the destroyed plant material.

Mixed With

What the waste was mixed with, if your state requires it.

Fill in the fields for the first plant, then click Apply to All to copy them to every plant you're destroying.
If you enter one total weight for several plants, Flourish spreads it evenly across them. If your state or your SOP needs a separate weight per plant, enter a weight for each plant.

States That Require These Fields

Metrc added these requirements in Bulletin 83. States that required them at that time:

Alaska, Colorado, District of Columbia, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, and Nevada.

You don't need to check this list to know what to enter. Flourish reads your facility's Metrc configuration and shows the fields your state requires.

Where You Can Destroy Mature Plants

All of these methods show the Metrc fields:

  • Inventory > Plants > All Plants, then Action > Destroy Plants
  • A group in Grow, then Edit and select the plants
  • The plants view for a stage in Grow, then Actions > Destroy Plants
  • Using Flourish's mobile app

If the Destroy Doesn't Sync

Open the plant's sync status to read the Metrc error. A missing or invalid waste method, reason, or weight is the most common cause. Correct the entry and retry the sync. See Retry Sync for Out-of-Sync Plants in Metrc.

Destroyed Directly in Metrc?

If you destroyed plants in Metrc instead of Flourish, click Sync from Metrc in Grow. Flourish marks the plants as dead. See Sync Changes Made in Metrc Back to Flourish.
