Choose an Outbound Order Allocation Method

Purpose

Flourish provides several ways to allocate inventory packages while fulfilling an outbound order. Choose a method based on where you are working, whether the packages already contain the required quantities, and whether the workflow has compliance-specific package-creation requirements.

This workflow covers allocating packages and preparing a picking or packing list. Creating and managing the order itself, adding the order to a shipment, and managing the shipment are separate workflows.

How Flourish matches packages to order lines

Flourish uses the order line to determine which packages are eligible for allocation.

Item: The package item must match the order-line item.
Lot number: If the order line specifies a lot number, Flourish scopes allocation to packages from that lot.
Strain: If the item requires strain, the package strain must match the order-line strain. A strain mismatch can make an expected package unavailable or cause a scanned package to be handled as a different line.
Quantity: If a source package contains more than the order requires, split it to a correctly sized child package before allocation unless you intentionally intend to change the ordered quantity.

If an expected package is missing, check the item, lot number, strain, available quantity, and package status before creating another package.

Special cases

Packages already shipped in METRC

If packages were transferred directly in METRC before they were allocated in Flourish, use the web allocation screen and include eligible Shipped packages. This lets you correct the Flourish order after the external METRC activity.

BioTrack lab samples

BioTrack requires the testing lab to be associated with the child package created for the sample. Use the BioTrack lab-sample workflow rather than the generic split procedure. BioTrack compliance behavior may vary by jurisdiction; follow the article for your facility's integration:

Paper-based picking

If your team allocates inventory first and then pulls it from a paper list, configure Packing list PDF sort order for the facility before generating the document.
