Non-Inventory Items
Non-Inventory items are products or services defined in the item master for which you don't track on-hand quantities in your inventory and aren't considered an asset on the balance sheet. For example, use this to capture labor costs, processing costs, overhead allocation, consumables such as packing supplies, and other inputs to add to your cost of goods sold.
Creating Non-Inventory items
- Go to the Inventory section within Settings
- Click Create New Item
- Select the Type as Non-Inventory
- Use the default Class and Category or create your custom class and category for this purpose
- There are three types of UOM to choose from:
- $ - The cost and price are set to $1.00. Use this to apply a variable dollar charge with a base unit of $1. In allocation, you can enter $0.01, $0.15, $1.00, $1.15, $1,001.01, etc.
- Hour - Ability to set a cost and a price. A use case for this is for labor. Ex: Cost of $45/hour and sold at $75/hour.
- Unit - Ability to set a cost and a price. Use this for all other purposes. A Unit could represent a Gallon, Gram, Bottle, Standard Delivery Charge, etc.
