Create or Edit a Retail Discount

Purpose

Create a discount to reduce the price of an order or specific items for customers who meet the rules you configure. Use discounts to run promotions, reward loyal customers, and move clearance inventory without changing item prices directly.

Prerequisites

You must have permission to manage Retail settings. To confirm or update this permission:

  1. Click Settings.
  2. Select User Roles.
  3. Select the facility you need.
  4. Click Configure next to the role.
  5. Locate the Admin card.
  6. Toggle View and Update on for the Retail line.

Before You Start

Decide the following before you create a discount:

  • The customer or order that qualifies.
  • The eligible facilities and items.
  • The dollar, percentage, bundle, or BOGO result.
  • Whether the discount is Applied Automatically, Stackable, or requires a Promo Code.
  • Whether manager approval or a discount reason is required.
  • Any date, time, or redemption limit.

Create a Discount

  1. In Flourish, navigate to Admin > Retail > Discounts.
  2. Click Add New Discount.
  3. Enter a name in the Discount Name field.
  4. Enter a description in the Description field (optional).
  5. Select Standard or Advanced as the discount type.
  6. Configure the discount amount or deal under The Details (Advanced discounts also use The Deal).
  7. Add facility, item, customer, and order eligibility rules as needed.
  8. Configure the discount toggles (such as Applied Automatically, Stackable, and Promo Code Required) and redemption limits.
  9. Click the eye icon to preview eligible facilities and items.
  10. Click Save.

Edit a Discount

  1. In Flourish, navigate to Admin > Retail > Discounts.
  2. Locate the discount in the grid, then click its name.
  3. Click Edit.
  4. Make your changes.
  5. Click the eye icon to preview eligibility again.
  6. Click Save.

Test Before Broad Use

Build a representative cart with an eligible customer, facility, item, order type, and time. Confirm the discount appears and calculates the expected result, then test one case that should not qualify. A successful save does not confirm the discount is configured correctly.

Expected Result

The discount appears in the grid with the intended status and settings. It's ready for testing or use in the configured channels.
