What Are Classes & Categories

In Flourish, Classes and Categories are hierarchical labels that help you organize, track, and (when needed) map your inventory items — both cannabis and non‑cannabis — in a structured way.

  • A Class is the higher‑level grouping (think of it as a broad classification).
  • A Category is a more granular label within a Class — you assign each inventory item a specific Category (and so also implicitly a Class).

Why They Matter / Use Cases

  • Organization & clarity: Quickly understand the type of item (e.g., “Concentrate” vs “Edible” vs “Non‑Cannabis Supply”).
  • Compliance mapping: If integrated with METRC, BioTrack, or another system, Categories must be mapped to the correct state category to sync properly.
  • Flexibility / customization: Create custom Categories and map them to your state system as needed.
  • E‑commerce & menu display: Classes and Categories determine how items appear in menus or online listings.
