Retail — Standard and Advanced Discounts

Discounts have been updated with a long-awaited feature — advanced discounts! Advanced discounts give you the option to limit eligibility based on what your customer is purchasing.

Standard Discounts

When you create a new discount, Standard is selected by default. These are the most basic discounts and only allow you to discount a customer’s cart or specific items in it.

The Details

These discount methods appear under the heading The Details. You can only select one method at a time.

  • Customer gets $X off the entire purchase
  • Customer gets X% off the entire purchase
  • Customer gets $X off a purchase line
  • Customer gets X% off a purchase line
  • Customer gets $X EACH off the following items
  • Customer gets X% off the following items
  • Customer gets X qty of the following items for $Y total

Standard Discount Rules

You can apply rules to certain standard discount methods. Rules allow you to include or exclude specific items, brands, categories, and tags in your discount. If you choose not to enter any rules, your discount can be applied to any item, brand, category, or tag.

In the pictured example above, the discount being configured will apply to all items of the Banana Stand brand, unless the items are tagged with the Clearance tag.

The final three discounts listed above containing "the following items" require at least one rule to be added to the Included or Excluded section to limit item eligibility. For the purchase line discounts, item eligibility rules are optional.

Advanced Discounts

Advanced discounts are flexible, powerful, and designed to cater to your specific needs. There are two parts to an advanced discount: The Details and The Deal.

If The Details on the left-hand side of the page are satisfied, The Deal can be applied to a customer’s order.

Discounted items appear in The Deal section on the right-hand side of the page.

The Details

These are the conditions that must be met before the customer is eligible to receive a discount.

  • When a customer buys X qty of the following items
  • When a customer spends $X TOTAL on the following items
Both of the available Advanced discounts in the Details section require at least one rule to be added to the Included or Excluded section to limit item eligibility.

The Deal

This is the amount or percentage of the discount that the customer can receive when the conditions of the details are met.

  • Customer gets X% off the entire purchase
  • Customer gets $X total off the entire purchase
  • Customer gets X% off qty Y eligible items
  • Customer gets $X total off qty Y eligible items
  • Customer gets $X off EACH eligible item
  • Customer gets EACH of the eligible items for a fixed price of $X
  • Customer gets the BUNDLE of X qty eligible items for a fixed total price of $Y
The Deal Rules

Advanced discounts also allow you to set up rules to include or exclude specific items, brands, categories, and tags that the deal will apply to. If you choose not to enter any rules, your discount can be applied to any item, brand, category, or tag.

Previewing Eligible Items

After you've set up your discount and all of its rules, you may want to double-check which items are eligible before making the discount active.

  1. In Flourish, navigate to Settings > Retail > Discounts.
  2. Locate the name of the discount you want to edit, then click the name.
  3. Click the Eye icon in your discount's rules.
You can select the Eligible and Not Eligible tabs from the popup to verify your eligible items.

Advanced Discount Example: BOGO

We put together an advanced discount to illustrate just how powerful and specific these discounts can be.

In this example, if a customer purchases four items with the category Edibles (each), excluding any HUSH branded items, they can receive 50% off of any one item in the Non-Infused (Plain) Pre-Roll category.
